چکیده

We investigate the interaction between conjugated polyelectrolytes and surfactants in solution and solid phases. We identify multiple modes of interaction and propose a model that accounts for their interplay and pronounced variation in photophysics over a wide range of conditions.

Conjugated polyelectrolytes with guanidinium side groups. Synthesis, photophysics and pyrophosphate sensing.

Two cationic poly(phenylene ethynylene) conjugated polyelectrolytes (CPEs) featuring guanidinium side groups were the subject of investigation. Two polymers were examined, one is an alternating co-polymer (P1) in which the guanidinium groups are on every other repeat unit and the second is a homopolymer with the guanidinium groups on every repeat unit. The photophysical properties of the CPEs w...

Analyte-induced aggregation of conjugated polyelectrolytes: role of the charged moieties and its sensing application.

The vital role of the charged moieties of monovalent aromatic anions in regulating the aggregation of a cationic conjugated polyelectrolyte was exploited in terms of the hard-soft acid-base principle and its application to colorimetric sensing of taurine was examined.

Anthryl-doped conjugated polyelectrolytes as aggregation-based sensors for nonquenching multicationic analytes.

The fluorescence-based detection of nonquenching, multicationic small molecules has been demonstrated using a blue-emitting, polyanionic poly(p-phenylene ethynylene) (PPE) doped with green-emitting exciton traps (anthryl units). Multicationic amines (spermine, spermidine, and neomycin) were found to effectively induce the formation of tightly associated aggregates between the polymer chains in ...

Conjugated Polyelectrolytes in Interactions with Biomolecules for Supramolecular Assembly and Sensing

__________________________________________________________________________ Conjugated polyelectrolytes (CP) show interesting electrical and optical properties for organic electronics as well as for life science applications. Their possibilities of supramolecular assembly with nanowire like misfolded proteins, amyloids, as well as synthetic polypeptides or DNA forming conducting or luminescent n...

Dark states in ionic oligothiophene bioprobes--evidence from fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering.

Luminescent conjugated polyelectrolytes (LCPs) can upon interaction with biological macromolecules change their luminescent properties, and thereby serve as conformation- and interaction-sensitive biomolecular probes. However, to exploit this in a more quantitative manner, there is a need to better understand the photophysical processes involved. We report studies of the conjugated pentameric o...
